USMCA SME Dialogue:

The USMCA Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Dialogue will bring together private sector and governmental trade experts from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada to highlight new small business trade and investment opportunities created by the USMCA.

April 22nd, 2022 – USMCA SME Webinar Dialogue:

The USMCA SME Dialogue will be a full-day event led by the Governments of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It will include presentations and panel discussions from North American trade and investment experts to provide participants with information on how small businesses can benefit from the USMCA. This discussion will be both in-person and remote.

San Antonio and the USMCA SME Chapter:

The USMCA is the first U.S. negotiated trade agreement to have a dedicated SME Chapter.

San Antonio is home to the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) SBDC International Trade Center, an SBA partner which serves as a local host organization for this inaugural dialogue and is one of the founding members of the USMCA CUSMA T-MEC SME Committee SME Counselors Network Pilot, created under the USMCA Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Chapter.  The pilot connects small business counselors across Mexico, Canada, and the United States to promote cooperation between small business support infrastructure in each country.  The network is a platform for sharing best practices, exchanging market research, and promoting SME participation in international trade, as well as business growth in local markets.

UTSA has also been active in the Small Business Network of the Americas. With support from the U.S. State Department, UTSA has led the expansion of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) model to over 268 SBDCs in 24 countries, serving almost 500,000 businesses each year. SBDCs create economic impact in each country but also open small business trade and investment opportunities.

During this event, participants will learn about new USMCA provisions that will facilitate increased small business trade and investments.
