San Antonio to Host The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China at
Business China 2007 Conference

San Antonio, Texas – Zheng Zeguang, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China Washington, D.C., is welcoming San Antonio companies to do business with his country at the Business China 2007 conference on October 11th in San Antonio, Texas. Included among the conference’s headliners are Aaron Demerson, Office of the Governor, Economic Development & Tourism, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, and Jorge Canavati, Port San Antonio. The conference, organized by The International Trade Center at UTSA, Free Trade Alliance, and US Chamber of Commerce, is focused on unlocking Chinese trade opportunities for San Antonio.

“This conference comes at a time when San Antonio community leaders are actively positioning our City at the forefront of international trade with China,” states presenter Jorge Canavati, VP Business Development, Port San Antonio. “There is a new horizon and emerging opportunities in doing business with China. This conference prepares companies to take advantage of them and will have far-reaching benefits for the region.” Canavati will provide an update on the China-Larazo Cardenas-San Antonio trade corridor during the afternoon logistics panel and discuss its cost-savings benefits for small-and-medium sized businesses who are moving goods to and from China.

Business China 2006 was a tremendous success and laid the foundation for this year’s expanded program with the US Chamber of Commerce. Leslie Schweitzer, Senior Trade Advisor at the US Chamber of Commerce, will open the conference with a discussion on US-China trade policy to kick-off a day of exclusive insight and high-level contacts for San Antonio.

The conference is expected to have over 150 attendees and guest speakers ranging from logistics experts, export specialists, and government officials from around the United States and China. It is particularly timely as City officials and business leaders will share their experiences and insight from a recent trade mission promoting San Antonio business opportunities in China and Hong Kong on October 1st.

Companies attending will receive key information, project management insight, contacts, and resources to develop supplier and export opportunities with China. Included in the topics are recent headlines such as quality assurance, supplier relationships, foreign exchange, and logistics.

The conference will also host a VIP reception the night prior with the Embassy of the PRC, US Chamber of Commerce, Bexar County, City of San Antonio, Port San Antonio, UT San Antonio and key community business executives to strengthen the region’s ties to China.

Business China 2007 is on October 11, 2007 in the Sky Room Conference Center at the University of Incarnate Word campus. Early registration is $80, discount registration is $65, and faculty/students can register for $35.

Marketing partners include Bexar County, City of San Antonio, Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, San Antonio Manufacturers Association, and the US Department of Commerce.
