International Trade Center to Hold 2-Day Export Regulation Conference

San Antonio (May 01, 2014) – The International Trade Center at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Institute of Economic Development announced today that it will partner with the US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) to hold a 2-day export control training in San Antonio May 21-22, 2014.

The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) works to advance US national security, foreign policy, and economic objectives by ensuring an effective export control and treaty compliance system and promoting continued US strategic technology leadership.

The first day of training is called “Essentials of Exporting” and will cover the key information needed to comply with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Counselors and other professionals from the Bureau of Industry and Security will cover the major elements of the US export control system for commercial exports. Day two is “Export Control Reform Regulations” and will be in-depth look revisions to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) by the President’s Export Control Reform (ECR) Initiative, the Departments of Commerce and State.

“We are honored to collaborate with the Bureau of Industry and Security in the organization of this training. Complying with the Export Administration Regulations is critical for companies involved in international trade, and failing to comply can carry heavy fines and penalties. We believe exporters in San Antonio and South Texas will find this training tremendously beneficial. Also, attendees will have the opportunity to network with other business owners conducting international business in the region,” said International Trade Center, Sr. International Business Consultant Alberto Rodriguez-Baez.

The two-day event will be held at the Tropicana Hotel at 110 Lexington Ave, San Antonio, TX, 78205. Participants can choose to attend one day for $225, or both for a discounted rate of $429.
